GUNS AND HOSES FILM ON KFBK WITH THE SACREMENTO HISTORICAL SOCIETY
SAC HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND A NEW DOCUMENTARY CELEBRATING FIRST RESPONDERS
ABOUT THE FILM
Sacramento is known for the Gold Rush, the western end of the Pony Express, the First Transcontinental Railroad, its many waterways and it’s the capitol of California. But did you know that its first responders have been a vital part of the community sine the mid 1800’s. This film explores the vital history of it’s first responders. It highlights a charity football game spanning 50 years that started a national craze by pitting law enforcement and fire departments against each other on the gridiron while building strong relationships in the community. The film will also included segments of the day-to-day life of first responders, its many alumni and the 50th PigBowl-Guns and Hoses Game.
OUR PARTNERS
We thank our invaluable partners in the Sacramento Historical Society and The Guns and Hoses Pig Bowl for helping to bring the documentary to life.
We work together as a community to give back to the community.
The Sacramento Historical Society for more than 70 years has brought together people to preserve and promote Sacramento’s golden history. As home of the first transcontinental railroad, the Pony Express, the first transcontinental telegraph and the center of the Gold Rush, the Sacramento region has a treasure trove of history to appreciate and discover.Started in 1954, by Dr.Joseph McGowen and several leaders, SHS has since grown into a successful 501(c)(3) organization.)
“The all-volunteer Pig bowl – GUNS & HOSES committee members have worked hard to provide our community with a great family event and competitive full tackle football game. The volunteers, players, and cheerleaders over the past 49 years have assisted this organization in continuing to help our local charities through generous donations from the events held by Pig Bowl – Guns & Hoses.
